Sunday 27 April 2025 marks national Drive-It Day. Created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005, it is the occasion when historic vehicle enthusiasts and the public at large have the opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial organised in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor vehicle. It’s also a chance to raise awareness and support amongst the public for the historic vehicle movement and keeping transport heritage on UK roads.
In recent years the FBHVC has entered a partnership with NSPCC to raise funds for its Childline service, by selling rally plaques that people can buy to put on their car and show their support. All profit from these goes to Childline and in 2024 (donations included) £38,100 was raised. So far, over the four years the FBHVC has been working with Childline, £177,170 has been raised for the charity.
The Midget and Sprite Club is proud to participate in Drive-It Day, and for many of our regions it marks their first major event of the year. Our Hampshire region was featured in Classic & Sports Car‘s round-up of gatherings around the country, and other regions are planning their own activities. Members and non-members are always welcome. Find your local region on our website and contact the area rep for more details.
