From June through to September 2023, subject to weather conditions, we have various runs from the Sitwell Arms on club nights, as below:
July: Sitwell Arms to the Black Horse, Mapperley Village
August: Matlock Bath – the annual Fish & Chip run
September: Sitwell Arms to the John Thompson, Ingleby
We also coordinate other monthly runs during the day time, which always start from Sainbury’s Superstore car park in Ripley, DE5 3QP. We gather at 10:30am for registration, departing at 10:45am for our destination. Here is what is scheduled for the summer, subject to weather:
July 20th, 2023: Great Hucklow – Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club
August 27th, 2023: Teddy Bear’s picnic run to Carsington Reservoir
September 21st, 2023: ‘Dambusters Run’ to Derwent Dams
October 19th, 2023: Coffee Shop run (venue to be confirmed)
July 10th, 2023: Curborough Sprint Day: Our sprint day, organised by Tim Lynam, is not just for those who want to go on the sprint track, it is there for anyone who wants to drop by during the day, or to see what the experience involves. This is a non-competitive event, but lap times may be recorded. Safety helmets are mandatory.
The gates to Curborough open at 09:00 for a 10:00 start and runs until 17:00 and is limited to 20 Midgets and Sprites.
We also have a members WhatsApp group for social contact. If you wish to be added to this group, please contact the area representative.
As well as the monthly meets there are non-club events which members may visit as a group, and we have good links to other clubs in the area.
It is always best to check details in advance of a meeting (phone or email) in case of changes at short notice, as if the weather is good we may decide to go for a run to another venue.
As a group, we cover all elements of Midget and Sprite ownership. Some of our members are interested in the technical and maintenance side of ownership, whilst some enjoy track days and the performance side of motoring. There is a great social aspect to our group, with monthly day time runs and club meets.
