(Arranged by Kent Area rep with Manager Mr Jackson)

Minispares are offering Masc members a 5% Discount on parts. You will have to quote your membership number when placing an order. www.minispares.com

Masc Discount Offer (4)

David Manners Group

The new MASC discount at all David Manners Group companies including Abingdon MG Parts Ltd is now live.

Identify yourself as a MASC member at the start of a phone or in person enquiry.

MASC membership number will be required.

Any subsequent order will be given a discount of between 5% and 15%.  The percentage discount varies simply because margins vary from product to product.

The sales guy will be very grumpy if you give him a great long list of parts, and he prepares the paperwork and then you announce that you are a MASC member right at the end.  This would mean that he would have to start again so give your membership number at the start if you want the savings!

Masc Discount Offer (5)

East Sussex Minor (arranged by Kent member Richard Beer)

I have had confirmation from the MD here that he would be more than happy to offer a 5% discount to MASC members. To that end, we have set up a special discount code for use on our website, the code is: sprite5 (no caps, no spaces). The code is effective immediately and the usual terms listed below apply.

Terms of discount code:

  • The discount code ‘sprite5’ is valid for use by members of the Midget and Sprite Club only.
  • Discount codes are valid for online orders only. They cannot be used over the telephone.
  • Only one discount code can be used on any given order at a time.
  • The discount code will apply a 5% discount off the total price of any order between £0 and £250.00 (ex. VAT). Orders above £250.00 are already covered by a 5% discount automatically.
  • Discount codes are subject to review on a six-monthly basis. We will contact you if any changes are to be made following a review.

Fisher Services

Fisher Services, our ex website sponsor, can supply, fit, and ream, later 1275 stub axle kingpin bushes together with new kingpins. One way of ensuring that you get serviceable parts as many exchange items fall below the required standard.

PBW, Birmingham.

Following complaints re the poor build quality of Wishbones, both new and reconditioned, I have been in touch with PBW ( Paul Wilkins ) @ Birmingham (01636-679638).

Paul has the fulcrum pin bushes made for him to recondition wishbones. He is willing to sell the bushes to anyone wishing to do their own reconditioning or he sells reconditioned, exchange, wishbones on a like for like basis at £60 each. Perhaps worth a try if you need such items?

Car Trimmer

Kent Masc member Mel Collins son Martyn is doing Classic Car, Motorcycle, & Marine trimming Tel: 07813-473267 or mailto: m.collins.517@btinternet.com

** Now making Tonneau Covers, car covers and more. He has upholstered Dave Chalk’s and Richard Beer’s Frogeye Seats and, of course, Mel’s 1500 seats.

Kent Masc Mugs

Just the thing for your refreshment in the garage

£5.00p each.

Shock absorber overhaul kit.

Malcolm Le Chevalier can supply this shock absorber overhaul kit

chevalierclassics@gmail.com

Tel: 07742-320839 (not during office hours)

Rear wheel bearing kits complete with a correct thickness gasket.

Contact Malcolm Le Chevalier as above.

Malcolm says:

“The gasket thickness is often overlooked and a few years back there were loads of kits with gaskets that were way too thick.  I have often thought (but admit I can’t prove) it is one of the reasons for people suffering half shaft failure, even in modestly powered cars.

I wasn’t happy with the parts available so did some research and developed my own kit.  Properly sized and spec-ed parts.  EU sourced (not far east) bearings, a double lip oil seal, new retaining screw, and most importantly a range of gasket thicknesses to allow the user to select the correct gasket to eliminate the float/play in the assembly”.

MASC – Midget60 postponed until 2022

by lara warburton

Dear all

I know some of you will have seen this announcement on the Facebook page, I equally know not everyone is on social media.

The Midget60 organising committee have taken the difficult decision to postpone this year’s event:

“During a meeting of our North West Area and Mark Hall. We discussed at great length the possibility of going ahead with MG Midget 60 in June 2021, but it is with great sadness we have decided to postpone this event to July 1st-3rd 2022. We know you will all be disappointed but it was felt as the pandemic opening up date of the 21st June is too close to our event, members may still feel unsafe to travel and also the date Boris has set could also be moved on to later in June, depending on how the R number comes down. As so much work has been put into organising this event, we did not wish it to become a diluted event, with members travelling from all over the UK and Europe.

We very much hope you will understand our decision and join with us in looking forward to July 2022 when we hope we will be able to gather and mix in large numbers (mask free) safely to enjoy the company of other members from all around the world.

Those who have already entered will receive an email shortly with details of the options.”

The word is out that Midget 60, The Big Weekend scheduled for June this year has been postponed. A sad but very sensible decision in view of where we are within the Covid-19 pandemic. A new date of 1st-3rd July 2022 has been posted when hopefully, the world be be a much safer place to got out and play with again.

Those who have booked for the 2021 date will be contacted shortly to explain the options available to them.

I have taken the decision not to renew the contract for the Kent Website this year.

Thanks go to Rylan for being our Webmaster and to Mark, at Fishers Services for sponsorship .

The Club is seeking to reduce its monetary reserves and is inviting ideas on how such may be spent to the benefit of the Area groups.

Kent already has two sails and a, little used, Gazebo. Does anyone have any suggestions what we might benefit from submitting a claim for?

xxxxxxxxxxxx

I have asked in the past but will ask yet again. Does anyone want to take on the role of Static Events Co-ordinator to organise, for those that like to display their cars at open air static events, to do so as a group and in so doing promote the Midget & Sprite Club.
