Cars & Coffee Meeting

by Robert Neil McLeod

Hi All.

Just to let you know at the last club night it was agreed to cancel our Cars & Coffee meetings at the Kilton  for the rest of this year.

Next club night is the 11th September @ the Kilton Inn, though some of us will not be there as we be in France heading to Angouleme.

Is anyone thinking of going to MASC AGM, on the 26th October @ RAF Cosford .

See you at October Club night.

Cheers Neil

Steve Keil is looking for an old Fuel tank

Steve Keil is looking for an old Fuel tank

by Robert Neil McLeod

Hi Guys
Please find attached note provided via TR Register member that should be of great interest to our members.
I have major concerns with the addition of ethanol to fuel especially for use with classic cars that were not designed for same and where many of the materials used in their construction are not compatible.
Considering that the filler cap needs to be of the ‘vented’ type, it is highly likely that moist/humid air will have been ingested into the fuel tanks on all Spridgets that will have resulted in the accumulation of water and consequent absorption of ethanol leading to the issues described in the attached article.
The suggestion of ‘slosh coating’ the inside of fuel tanks may not be feasible on Spridgets due to the internal fuel pick-up filter.
I am therefore investigating options for the removal of such water that even complete tank draining may not readily address and am seeking an old tank that could be cut open to confirm internal details of the fuel pick-up and baffle arrangements. Also the provision of a tank drain plug not provided on current replacements.
The possibility for a practical means of ‘sloshing’ can also be addressed.
Stainless steel tanks are available for some classic vehicles (MGB ?) however such material may make matters even worse !
I have made approaches to a number of specialist suppliers for water absorbing ‘socks’ that with some amendments could be inserted via the tank filler to aid water removal without the need for total draining.
Could you please share this information with other NW Area members.
Regards
Steve

July Club Night

by Robert Neil McLeod

July already !!! Is it an age thing or are the months really going quicker ?.

Anyway on the 10th of July is will be our club meeting and we where going to do a run to the Anderton Boat Lift , on refection this might be too much for club night as we always have quite a lot to discuss.   So the plan now is to do this run after the Cars & Coffee meeting Sunday 14th July leaving around 1pm , for which I have printed out 20 copy’s of the route to the boat life and from there to the Blue Cap Pub, we are not booking a table as some may choose to eat at the boat lift and others at the Blue Cap, you can decide on the day.

Oakamoor Hill Climb 13th July

I have registered 15 cars to go to this event somewhere we have not been before,  I am still waiting from Lucy to email the passes to me as soon as I have more info I will let you know. This is again proving to be a very busy weekend, If you think it is too much, we may be could delay the run to the boat lift till August , what do you think ??

Let me know your thoughts on this.

See you at club night. Neil
