New Area Rep for Notts and Derby area

by ian cooke

Hello all

Please note that the new Area Rep. for Notts and Derby is now Richard Wharmby who can be reached on the email address and phone number shown in Mascot.

Please feel free to contact him regarding any event suggestions, Mascot articles and local club issues.

It may take a while to transfer all contact details and responsibilities regarding the MASC to Richard so please bear with us, so in the meantime you can still contact me during the transition period.

Regards

Ian

February monthly meeting

by ian cooke

The next meeting of the Notts and Derby group will be on Thursday February 13th at The Hunters Arms Kilburn.

I have been asked to stand down as Area Rep in order to allow some new ideas for events and Mascot articles from a new Area Rep.

Apparently there are a number of you out there willing to take on the role so it is important that you come along to the next meeting in order to agree on my replacement.

Since the group is growing and interest for more events is increasing, there is the opportunity to share some of the tasks of the new Area Rep(s), which may benefit from some more clearly defined roles and members responsible for those roles:-

eg. 1.Events officer – organising events.  2. Media officer – advertising.  3.Monthly reporter to Mascot.  4.Membership liaison – any personal members issues arising.  5.Technical assistance.  6.Club liaison – working with other MASC area groups.

I will be continue to deal with communications until the meeting where after the club can be notified of the new contacts.

Events across the border

by ian cooke

Please note the following events from the Northampton area – for further details please contact Northants rep. Andrew Parrott

* NEW * Sunday 22nd March 2020: Silverstone Social Classic Car Meet at Turweston Aerodrome. First event of the year for SSCCM. A relaxed meeting catering for all classics. Open from 10am to 1pm. We’ll have our own pitch so we can park together. Let me know if you’re planning to attend so that I can ensure our pitch is big enough to accommodate us all – currently it’s for five cars.

  • Drive It Day 2020 is on Sunday 26th April. MASC normally have several runs planned. For example, the Heart of England Area are doing a run from Alcester to The Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne and have invited us along.
  • * NEW * Sunday 10th May 2020 – Classics at Prescott. Full details at: http://www.classicsatprescott.com/copy-of-saturday-drive-the-hill. A number of our group are planning to attend and we’ll aim to travel in convoy at least for some of the journey. If you want to attend reserve a place for the static display via the link above. Please let me know if you’ve done this so I’ve got an idea of numbers. Hopefully we can all park together when we get to Prescott.
  • Sunday 28th June 2020: Lanes Run in conjunction with Central Area. Plan is for Areas to meet up and follow a scenic route ending at Brixworth Country Park. More details to follow.
  • Sunday 5th July 2020: Silverstone Social Exclusive visit Fuzz Townshend’s Classic Oils at Bicester Heritage. SSCCM have a number of events planned for 2020 and this caught my eye. There are also two gatherings at Turweston Aerodrome (Sunday 22nd March and Sunday 11th October) together with events at various venues around the county. Check out ‘Silverstone Social Events’ on Facebook for more details.

Happy Christmas!

by ian cooke

I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all at some point in the New Year.

Please make your ideas for club events known and we can try to cater for them over the year. Most events are discussed at the monthly meetings and we tend to work with whoever is there, so events can tend to appear a little biased when it comes to their application. Please do not be put off attending if your car is off the road – there are usually spare seats going if it is a car run anyway.

Seasons Greetings from Ian Cooke, Notts + Derby area rep.
