MASC Northamtonshire Drive It Day 2020

by Andrew Parrott

Hello everyone

I hope you are all safe and well.

Today (Sunday 26th April 2020) is Drive It Day and in normal circumstances I would be looking forward to a run out in our cars. We had planned to visit Hughenden Manor, a National Trust property near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. I had decided on a start point and had a rough route planned out. Sadly we’re all stuck at home for the foreseeable future but I hope we can re-schedule this event for later in the year when restrictions are eased.

A number of people in MASC are supporting ‘Driveway Day’ as an alternative this year so please send me a photo of you and your car on your driveway so that I can incorporate this into our monthly report for inclusion in the next issue of MASCOT.

I’d also like words and pictures of anything Spridgetly you have done over the past few weeks. Maybe you’ve been tackling a job you’ve been putting off for a while or carrying out regular maintenance so that you car is ready to go once we’re finally released back into the wild.

I’ve been rebuilding Mungo’s engine but I would much rather talk about your exploits than bang on about what I’ve been doing once again. So please don’t be shy and show off your car in the lovely weather.

Best wishes

Andrew

Not Drive it Day !! but Driveway Day Sunday26th April

by Robert Neil McLeod

Hi All.

MASC chairman Mark Hall sent out this message as below on the club Facebook page,  so I thought for those that might not see on this media I would send it out to our North West area members. I think it is a nice idea and Shelley & I will be donating to Air Ambulance a worthy course, we never hope to have need of, but they do a fantastic job all from charity donations.

We hope you are all keeping well and keep polishing. Neil

Message from Mark Hall MASC club chairman.

To all my friends with classic cars in your garages. This Sunday is the annual national drive it day, but as we cant go anywhere a friend has had a great idea and shared this on our car club group page.
“Hi there. As this Sunday was to be Drive It Day, how about getting our cars out onto our drives and call it “Driveway Day”. We could make it a national static rally!”
One of the clubs areas are also going to donate the money they would have spent on petrol to charity. So even if your car doesn’t run push it on the drive post a picture for everyone to see and give your petrol money to a charity 🙂
I am donating mine to Rennie Grove Hospice Care, but pick your own charity.

May 2020’s MASCOT

by

Hello all,

I am putting MASCOT together for my imminent deadline to the publishers and am appealing for Area Reps to submit material to me. According to MASCOT we have 23 areas. So far I have reports from 6 areas. I realise that due to current circumstances the use of our cars has been restricted and so no events to report on, however like me, many of you and your members must have been tinkering with their cars and have something to say about them? Or some of your members may like to reminisce over past adventures?  I would appreciate something from you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Neil

Monthly Meets

by Richard Wharmby

Hi Spridgeteers,

Hope your all keeping well during these unprecedented times.

As you are aware we are not currently having our monthly meets and also with many events being cancelled it is a frustration we all share.

Looking forward to when the restrictions are lifted, i would like to propose our monthly meets from September are held on Sunday morning / lunchtimes, this would give us the opportunity to arrange a few runs in our Midgets & Sprites through the winter months.

We could keep the 2nd Thursday of the month meetings if members wish to do both.

Please let me have your thoughts on this proposal.

I can be contacted through email , phone , or through our local MASC WhatsApp group.

If you want to join our local Whatsapp group then drop me a message with your contact details.

If anyone has any articles or reports for the Notts & Derby’s area’s page in Mascot then please let me have them or you could send any articles direct to Neil Thomas ( Editor of Mascot ).

Stay safe everyone

Regards Richard

Up Date on events taking place this year 2020

by Robert Neil McLeod

Good morning All.

Shelley & I hope you are all keeping well, in what is becoming a very strange time when we really do not know if any events will go ahead this year, so with fingers crossed I have had some revised dates of events for August 2020 sent to me. I have set the dates out below and will go ahead and register those interested going in the hope all is well by then.

The Restoration Show @NEC 7th to 9th August.

Tatton Park Classic Car Show 15th & 16th August

Miller Park (Preston ) Classics in the Park 15th August (this has not been confirmed as still going ahead) and it also clashes with one day of Tatton Park, so I have not had a reply to my email as yet so would have to assume it will still be going on. So we will have to look at numbers wanting to go to any of these events and if we can get enough interest to cover both days on the 15th August.

Looking further ahead we have made a date for a Club weekend away @ The Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries 11th to 14th September for a great price of £62 per person per night dinner B/B . We do need to confirm this booking by the first of May if you would like to join us of this weekend do let us know ASAP. As so much has changes this year this may be a chance to get together and give us time to party, after what will have been a year we will want to put behind us.

Looking to next year the Prestatyn Classic Car Show has been set for May 30th/31st 2021.

As more Info comes my way I will keep you in touch or if any information come to anyone of you please let me know, though we are not able to have our club meetings we can still very much keep our MASC area club as active as we can until crisis is over.

In the meantime take care be safe and keep polishing.

Cheers Neil
