February monthly meeting

by ian cooke

The next meeting of the Notts and Derby group will be on Thursday February 13th at The Hunters Arms Kilburn.

I have been asked to stand down as Area Rep in order to allow some new ideas for events and Mascot articles from a new Area Rep.

Apparently there are a number of you out there willing to take on the role so it is important that you come along to the next meeting in order to agree on my replacement.

Since the group is growing and interest for more events is increasing, there is the opportunity to share some of the tasks of the new Area Rep(s), which may benefit from some more clearly defined roles and members responsible for those roles:-

eg. 1.Events officer – organising events.  2. Media officer – advertising.  3.Monthly reporter to Mascot.  4.Membership liaison – any personal members issues arising.  5.Technical assistance.  6.Club liaison – working with other MASC area groups.

I will be continue to deal with communications until the meeting where after the club can be notified of the new contacts.

Options for Drive It Day 2020 with MASC – * Please Respond *

by Andrew Parrott

Hello

As you may know Drive It Day is on Sunday 26th April and MASC actively supports this with many areas doing a run of some sort.

I’m trying to finalise our plans for Drive It Day and wanted some feedback on the kind of thing you’d like our Northamptonshire Area to do to mark the day.

Time is relatively short so I would appreciate your feedback on this by the end of January please. The options are listed below but I’m open to suggestions for alternatives.

Essentially we need to choose whether we join in on an event organised by a neighbouring MASC Area or do our own thing; to which we can invite others to take part in. Plans for Central, Heart of England and Notts & Derby are being finalised and are outlined below. I’ve listed some ideas of what we could do if we took a ‘home baked’ approach.

Please review the options below and let me know your top two ideas in order of preference. Thanks.

1. Central MASC: Run from The Tame Otter near Tamworth to Weston Park in Staffordshire.
2. Heart of England: Run from Alcester to The Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne.
3. Notts & Derby: Run to The International Bomber Command Centre near Lincoln. Not sure where they’re starting from but we could arrange to meet them there. A ‘pretty’ route is likely to be about 80 to 90 miles each way.
4. Northamptonshire Option 1: Circular route around our patch taking in a few sights and starting and/or ending at a pub.
5. Northamptonshire Option 2: Hughenden Manor (National Trust) near High Wycombe. Country home of Benjamin Disraeli with a secret role during WWII. About 65 miles each way, £13pp entry, free for NT members.
6. Northamptonshire Option 3: Shuttleworth Collection and Swiss Garden near Biggleswade. About 70 miles each way, £20pp entry for collection and garden.
7. Northamptonshire Option 4: Hook Norton Brewery including a tour. About 40 miles, £15pp including tour.
8. Something else!

Please tell me whether you are able to join us for Drive It Day and, if so, which two of the above options you would prefer or provide some other ideas that you think others in our group would enjoy.

Kind regards

Andrew

Yorkshire Area MASC February Meeting

by Mark T Boldry

After a wonderful turn out at our January meeting and Brewery Tour, we hope we may see similar numbers at this lovely venue in February… Midday, Saturday 15th February at this Country Pub on the outskirts of Thirsk… Once again we aim to attract some of our more Northerly and Easterly located members and friends. We can personally recommend this place for excellent food and drinks… it’s up to you to add the fantastic company that the Yorkshire Area of MASC enjoy…

Please come and join us.. 🙂

Oulton Park Gold Cup

by Robert Neil McLeod

Hi All.

I have now registered our club with MSV to visit Oulton Park Gold cup Saturday 29th to Monday 31st August 2020. If you would like to attend this event you can go to Oulton Park website and book a free entry ticket under the reserved places with the  Midget & Sprite Club North West, this can be a bit of fiddle as they also ask for a photo of your car if you have not registered with MSV before,  so if you have a problem do let me know.

Good Luck.

Neil
