MASC BRISTOL

by Terry Horler

Hello fellow Mascavites,

I hope you are all keeping well and staying sane during this continuing pandemic. Not sure that I am as I have to decided to sell my multi shades of red Frogeye Sprite. Yes, its the ‘wind up’ Frogeye that I have owned since 1979.

Well known throughout the club, my Frogeye always draws attention, most of you will know why!  Anyway, impending loss of storeage space means that I have to reduce my Spriting footprint on South Gloucestershire. I would love to see my Sprite go a local new owner, so that I might see it again, rather than vanish altogether off my radar. Hence, I am giving Masc Bristol members a head start before it hits Mascot and the world at large. There is far too much to say about my Sprite to go into here. Just bung me a email for further info or phone number.

Zoom meeting 8pm 2nd Feb

by Gavin Rowles Rowles

Hello all.  I’ve had my lesson with Dave Colclough and he has suggested his presence on the first meeting might be helpful. Some points which could be of use should like me you be unused to Zoom as follows:-

  1. You will need an account from Zoom.is  This is staight forward to set up.
  2.  I will send 2 links out to you all about  7.30pm.  Clicking on both should gain you access.
  3. Zoom works on all platforms. If you encounter any problems it is likely your PC/tablet/phone/laptop will need your settings amended in preferences.
  4. Upon entering Zoom make sure your microphone and camera are set to on.
  5. If you can’t gain access  give me a phone call on 01372457172 and I’ll see if Dave can help you. I hope to see you all next Tuesday.  Regards Gavin.

Frog rebuild. Also rolling road in Woking

by Gavin Rowles Rowles

Morning all.
Area member Mike Hicks has advised me of a rolling road tuner in Woking. No recommendation is implied but I think I will give them a call to see what they are about plus costs. Might be of interest somewhat later this year.

The company involved is Harding Auto’s GU21 2ND.

Mike has also shared comprehensive comments about His Frog rebuild. Whilst Mike is happy to share details with Surrey members I don’t have the skills yet to forward details using the club forum.

Regards Gavin.

Zoom

by Gavin Rowles Rowles

Hello all.

I’m going to look into more detail concerning the proposed 1st Zoom  meeting.  I think this should be on a weekday & in the evening – say 8pm on the first Tuesday of the month.

Does  anyone have any problem with this timing please?

New Area Rep

by Gavin Rowles Rowles

Hello all.  I trust you are all well and bearing up in the the current very difficult times. Mike Gorman has stepped down as Area rep for Surrey & I have agreed with the club to take over. I have spoken to Mascot Editor Neil & he hopes to print a few words to confirm this in the next issue.  I have already submitted a small report for the March issue. I am working on a few new idea’s to keep Surrey thriving. Of these, the most important are when & where we meet plus Zoom meetings. As the Covid situation seems unlikely to improve in a meaningful way for sometime I am going to concentrate my efforts on this aspect for the time being. The Club already have a dedicated Zoom maestro so I’m hoping that I can sort this promptly despite my techy failings.

Please feel free to contact me by email or phone 07792028785 if you wish to make any comments or suggestions.

Today’s weather has been fine & I’m itching to get back for a decent run in my Midget. No doubt you are too in you Spridget. I hope to see you in the months to come.

Regards Gavin Rowles.

MASC BRISTOL

Hello fellow Mascavites,

A slightly belated happy new year to you all, despite all the unhappy things surrounding us at the moment. Firstly, I do hope that you are all well and have managed to enjoy Christmas and the new year as best and as safely as you can in these extraordinary times.

Secondly, the news from MASC BRISTOL, OK, there is none. I offer no false hopes of what or when we may be able resume our activities, rest assured, when that does happen, you will soon hear about it. On a good note, I did drive past the Wishing Well just prior of Lockdown 3, its still there and not boarded up.

Masc Bristol HQ has now relocated to the bunker for the duration. Tin hat, thick rubber gloves, two pairs of socks and Jubilee clips around sleeves and trouser legs, I am taking no chances. The walls are thickly insulated with toilet rolls, tins of baked beans and bags of rice. I am quietly confident that I will drive a Sprite again. In the meantime, you can still get in touch with me via the usual channels (see Mascot contacts page).

Stay safe, follow the advice, roll your sleeve up when called, we shall once again leave our mark wherever we may drive, or park up, in our Spridgley things.

Terry
