Regional – Somerset

The Somerset Regional Area attracts members from South & West Somerset, East Devon and West Dorset with most of our activities being centred round the Borders of the “Three Counties”. Our area takes in some lovely countryside and coastal areas with many “B” roads suitable for a “spin” in a Spridget. We are also lucky in having the Haynes Motor Museum on our patch.

Formed back in 1997 by Jamie Bowring, Dave Bearne and Malcolm & Elaine Denman among others, we remain a very informal & friendly crowd; with Dave, Malcolm & Elaine still involved. We are not big in number though we  have grown in the past couple of years and can now muster about 14 or so cars on a run. We organise a wide range of activities involving eating and driving and attend many local Rallies, Tours and Shows throughout the year. More recently we have also taken to organising a late summer annual holiday for members; Cornwall and Brittany have now been invaded. Where ever we go the cars always attract much interest, not to mention the members, some of whom can be seen at their local post office on Thursdays! However they remain young at heart.

Meeting, monthly, at the ‘Windy Millers Bar and Pie House at Haselbury Mill’, nr. Crewkerne TA18 7NY, a 30 mile or so radius from there takes us almost up into the Bristol area’s territory to the north and well into the English Channel to the South!( Midget & Submarine Club members welcome!) With our neighbours in the East, the Dorset Area (meeting@ Poole) and a revitalised Devon Area (meeting@ Ashburton) to our West then this still leave us enough room on the roads!. Our members are good trenchermen with a keen interest in many pursuits along with a wide range of motoring activities and cars, apart from our “Frogeyes” and later Midgets & Sprites. So come and join us for a bite or a run out sometime you might even find something to your liking!

Haselbury Mill is situated approx. 1 mile east of Crewkerne on the A30, “behind” the Ariel Motor Co. Factory
